Living Fresh Bibb Lettuce

There is no such thing as genetically modified lettuce of any type. But that hasn’t stopped Athens, Georgia-based Living Fresh – which supplies lettuce to grocery stores across the southeast – from labeling its Bibb Lettuce with the Non-GMO Project Verified logo and proclaiming on its website that “we supply the Southeast with the freshest non-gmo produce.”

Whether it’s Bibb lettuce or red butter, basil or other herbs – none of which have a GM-counterpart, by the way – what Living Fresh is really supplying is a big dose of confusion for shoppers at stores like Kroger and Harris Teeter and Whole Foods, where these products are sold.

Time to show Living Fresh that consumers prefer their labels without deception by tweeting or posting to Facebook.
